Evangelism and The Presence of the Lord

There’s nothing more beautiful than being in the presence of the Lord, and living an upright life before Him. For some reason, the Lord wanted me to spend time relaxing in His presence this week. So, I canceled all of my normal ministry activities Monday – Thursday of this week. Whatever the Lord wants is always worth making the priority and doing.

The Lord did wonderful things in Utimuile Village last Friday. All of us on the ministry team enjoyed seeing more people receive Jesus. I don’t know yet what the Lord is speaking by removing headaches, but the Holy Spirit has been removing them from people who ask for prayer. One lady that just received Jesus a few minutes before had a backache. Her back ache didn’t stop while we prayed for her, but we were all surprised at her faith when in boldness she said she believed she would get better. During this time, the Lord revealed more of Himself to me, even in the fact that shortly before the team departed, I was asked to teach the new believers on the Kingdom of God to help them understand the new life they have in Christ (our base leader Peter was tired after returning from a long journey).

Victor and I also had a wonderful time in Asumani village last week. We were walking to our regular spot in the village, when I saw the presence of the Lord in an area that many children were playing in. We hadn’t been there before, but decided to go. We were singing a praise song, but the Holy Spirit wanted us to worship. When we stopped and we began to worship (not at all concerned about children) the Lord did something marvelous. All the children who were playing ball and shouting suddenly stopped playing, ran to us and crowded around us. They starred and listened as we worshipped. They didn’t do this while we were singing the other songs. They ran to us as though we were their parents calling them. Even the older boys who usually never like to stay around when we minister, ran over and just stood there. The presence of the Lord increased. When we stopped worshiping, for some reason most of them left the area for home. It was weird, but definitely of the Lord! A few little ones stayed and accepted Jesus. One little girl looked like she was about 2 or 3 years old. She had a bold look in her eyes as she was literally the loudest one praying to receive Christ. Another little girl that I’d been eyeing in the village for some time was also there, and she received Jesus, too. We also were able to spend time teaching Chasi, a young girl from our church that accompanied us to evangelize, about the presence of the Lord, the releasing of the anointing, and the importance of always doing what the Holy Spirit wants us to do.

Pray for us! The Lord is doing marvelous things and we want to remain humble to receive the out pouring of the Holy Spirit and His fire that is coming into the Niassa Province of Mozambique.

Harvesters Are Needed For The Harvest

We had a beautiful time in Asumani village last

Friday, and the Lord brought many souls into the kingdom. Both children and adults joined in playing jump rope and kicking around the soccer ball. We ministered in drama (about being trapped by sin and being set free by the Lord). Our ministry team introduced new songs as we worshipped the Lord and sought His presence. Over the past months, many people have been saved in Asumani, and we are interested in seeing how the Lord will bring in this harvest (of young souls) to be a people of His presence. The Lord has revealed to our ministry here that the first harvest is only the firstfruits (“a harvest of harvesters”), and out of that first harvest we will have the task of raising up a people that will then go forth into the fields to bring in a greater harvest. The harvest is coming! We are preparing our church and other believers for what the Lord is going to do.

The city is another big harvest field. I’ve been challenged by the people that come and ask for food, both children and adults. It’s one thing to spot out the hungry and make a decision to feed them, and it’s another thing when they spot you out and ask you to feed them. Tito, a man who obviously had too much to drink that morning (and who smoked) called me over and asked for food. I believed he was hungry so I bought him food. He then told his friend, “These people go to the church, too”. It turned out that Tito went to a Catholic church and truly believed in Jesus Christ. Tito wants to be used by Jesus in great ways, but at that moment he wasn’t ready to let go of his alcohol. While Victor and I were ministering to him, another man who also had too much to drink stopped to listen to us preach about Jesus. That man made a decision to surrender his life to the Lord! He also asked Jesus to deliver him from smoking and drinking. All this occurred right in front of the counter of the bread shop. We then sincerely apologized to the store owner if we had interrupted or disturbed his business in any way. He actually seemed to enjoy the fact that we were ministering to people, and wasn’t bothered in any way.

Join with us as we pray that the Lord will send more harvesters into the city, especially people to work with Victor and I. The Lord is raising up people in Lichinga in preparation for the greater harvest. Thank you for joining us and responding to His call!

Drawing The Lost To Jesus

Last Friday, we had a wonderful time in Utimuile Village. Peter Wilcox, one of the base leaders, purchased a truck, which makes it possible to take very small teams out for village evangelism. After playing with the children, we did a drama about being trapped in sin and how the power of God releases people. We worshipped and praised the Lord in song, followed by preaching. Many people, both adults and children, came to the Lord. The chief of the village, Chief Utimuile, gave us an open door to come on a consistent basis to disciple the new believers. We are planning to do similar team ministry in Asumani today (9AM EST time) and on a continual basis. Please pray for our us and Asumani village.

DRAWING THE LOST TO JESUS
Sunday, Jaime, visited our church (just to see what it was like). He’s my muslim friend in Chaula market who has a heart to know Jesus. He didn’t come inside the church, but sat outside listening intently and enjoying himself. He could only stay for about 30 minutes though, and then I took him back to the market on my motorbike. When I dropped him off, all of his friends cheered and clapped their hands. They knew what he had gone to do. Please join me in believing and praying that they all would receive Jesus and become lights and mighty torches to carry the fire of God to other people. (Also, I thank the Lord because the very next day, the motorbike chain came off while I was riding my motorbike. If that happened Sunday I wouldn’t have been able to take Jaime to church).

While returning back to the church, I met several little boys. I was surprised that they readily accepted my offer to join me at church. They had to sit on the front row because those where the only seats available. They sat down and watched everyone else worshipping. But, later in the service they gave their lives to Jesus. It was amazing to see the immediate change in their lives. They started singing and dancing unto the Lord, and their faces lit up at the name of “Isa” (“Jesus” in the local Yao language). Hallelujah!! The Lord is glorious and does marvelous things, all the time!

BUILDING A HOUSE FOR THE PLEASURE OF THE LORD
This week, I had to spend a lot of time purchasing supplies, overseeing the work being done on our house, and putting the steel security bars through the wood window frames. All the walls are up to door height. By today, all of the 17 windows will be installed including the 4 huge windows in the “room of lights”. The workers of our house and the other workers at the center have been having wonderful times in the presence of the Lord at lunch time worship and prayer. We’ve had a few issues with one of the workers wanting to work more and frequently skip this time. But the Holy Spirit turned his heart toward Himself, and the issue has been resolved in the individual with joy and a willing heart to seek the Lord first. All of the workers are saved and have a desire to grow in the Lord. They know that their relationship with the Lord is more important than building us a house, and that the owner of the house will gladly put aside the work being done on the house to give Jesus every opportunity to do the real work of building up their lives as dwelling places for His Holy Spirit. We are building for the pleasure of the Lord.

- Jamie and his friends will surrender their lives to Jesus. The Lord opens more doors in Chaula market.
- We continue to stay in the position to experience the increasing presence of the Lord here in Lichinga.

Children's Day In Mozambique

June 1 was Children’s Day in Mozambique

(Dia de Crianças). It’s a pretty big deal around Lichinga. Children receive nice clothes from their parents, and special food. One family gave their children a very special treat, soda.

After buying 140 bolos (small donuts) for Children’s Day, Victor and I headed into Asumani Village to minister to a certain group of children that we see often. But, many of them were playing in the fields and others were at a special event at the village’s school. We decided to go to all the houses that had children that weren’t at the event at the school. When we preach the gospel here, we have to be careful about handing out food to people or areas that aren’t familiar with us. If we do, the children and adults will come for handouts and not for the gospel. Here, one can quickly get a reputation of trying to “buy” the people so that they become Christians. We handed out the bolos and candy to many children (and the leftovers were given to the adults). We were leaving the area, when the Lord sent us back to one of the houses. There we shared the gospel with one lady who then surrendered her life to Jesus. Hallelujah! When we obey the Lord, we can take part in the wonderful things He has in store for us and for others.

Yesterday, I shared tithing and giving with two of the workers that are helping to build our house. Some of the other workers sat in on the teaching. Most if not all received it happily and humbly as a blessing from the Lord. I pray, that they will be faithful in giving unto the Lord as He is faithfully providing for them.
