Wonderful Testimonies and Miracles

Just wanted to update you on some wonderful testimonies and miracles here at our site. Also, please read the note below about sending us packages via airmail.

The Acid That God Did Not Allow To Burn
Annelisa, a missionary at our site, was checking her family’s 12 volt battery connected to their solar panels (her face was about 1 foot away), when the battery suddenly exploded and acid flew onto her body, her face and on her eyes. It burned a man’s sneakers. The acid burned a hole through Annelisa’s mom’s pants. Annelisa felt burning sensations all over her face and arms, BUT there was not a single burn on her from the acid, nor was there a scratch from the debris which projected from the exploding battery. God perfectly preserved her skin, her eyes and her clothes. Everyone began to pray and worship. While worshipping with her family, the sensations in her body went away. Shortly after, the ringing sound in her ear also stopped.

The Snake That Couldn’t Bite
While Foster, one of the workers/missionaries at our site, was working on the veranda for the orphan girl’s house, a snake came from under a rock and tried to strike Him. Instead of the snake biting his leg, it simply hit his leg with its mouth. He looked to see what hit his leg, and then quickly jumped away. He used the tool in his hand to kill it. The Lord preserved Foster from a snake bite that could have cost him his leg or even his life.

Tire and Bike Tube Blow Out
I rode my motorbike to Utimuile village last Friday to do a drama and minister with the rest of our missionary team. About 100 meters from the site I heard a big “pop!”. My front tire tube had suddenly popped (and there was a rip in the seam of the front tire). The bike went right and left, back and forth, but the Lord kept me upright. After stopping the bike, I moved it to the side of the road by the school, and joined the rest of the team. The tire was temporarily fixed, so I could go to the city and buy a new tire and tube.

New Bicycles
Besides Gazani, there was another person, Foster, whom I desired to bless with a bike. Foster works at the center and loves to evangelize (he’s in the video we made last November). Well, the Lord provided bicycles for both people. I’ll send pictures of them with their new bicycles once we purchase them. Thank you for blessing these two young men with a valuable tool to evangelize and advance the kingdom.

We've received about 3 packages from family in the states via the USPS flat rate Priority Mail boxes. The ones we received are the $37 Flat Rate Domestic/International boxes. We received them about 3 weeks after they were mailed from the U.S. Check your local post office for more information on different sizes and prices of flat rate boxes that you can mail to us. The $37 ones that we received have a weight limit of up to 20 pounds when used internationally. We found that the rates can be a little cheaper if you print your own postage online at usps.com/postage online and drop it off at or have it picked up by your local post office. Please note that when mailing any new or packaged items, you need to remove all pricing and packaging before mailing it to us. If you leave it on, we may end up having to pay high customs fees. Please email us for a list of suggested items to send to us. Note: We love Reese's Peanut Butter Cups (or anything Reese's)! Feel free to include them in any package sent to us! Thanks!

Helping Out, Matequenia (what's that?)

Opportunity to Help Out A Faithful Local Worker
The man to the right in the picture is Gazani. He one of the original people who helped out with the work at the center last year. He’s filled with the Spirit and has a heart for our center’s vision. When the other workers left, he opted to stay because he enjoys the Lord’s work here. He helps with construction, and also helps translate during church because he speaks English. He doesn’t have a bicycle and usually has to spend a lot of time walking to visit his family or going into the city when he’s not working at our center. We’d love to bless Him with a bicycle before the end of this month. The bottom line ones are about $75 U.S. Please let us know if the Lord speaks to your heart concerning this, and if you’d like to send a donation specifically for this purpose.

Matequenia
What is that? That’s a little, tiny worm that borrows into your skin, (possibly eats away at some of your flesh), gets cozy in your skin and starts laying eggs. After some days, there’s itching and a little pain as it moves around and does its thing. As it grows, the egg sack also gets bigger and so does the hole it makes in your skin. To remove it, you cut off the dead skin around the sack and remove the sack of eggs (and the worm that usually lives in the sack) without breaking it. If it’s broken, then you have to use a razor or pin head to remove the eggs from your flesh or else you’re face many problems later on. Also, sometimes the worm will try to escape by leaving the sack and borrowing through your skin. In that case, people quickly cut into the healthy, sensitive skin to get it out. Ouch! The worm will continue to grow and lay more eggs if not removed. When the eggs hatch the worms will spread to other parts of your body. When the sack is removed a small hole is left in your skin which usually stops hurting after a few days as it begins to heal.

Without clean band-aids or good antiseptic, the open wound is most likely to get infected. Or at least, it leaves more chances for another worm to borrow into one’s body. These worms are mostly contracted in and around rainy season. They live in the dirt and (I was told) they are usually in areas where there are chickens. Many people in the villages get these, especially the children who play in the dirt. Since most people can not afford shoes (they only wear flip-flops), it’s quite common.

For some reason, Tiffany and Amerel had one in their feet, and I had one in my hand. We were told that the ones Tiffany and I had must have been there for a while. Take a look at the picture of my hand. Tiffany most likely got hers while wearing flip flops in-doors. In any case, this is just one of those attacks that we worship and whistle through. I’m serious. I was fine knowing the worm was in my hand. Then, suddenly this feeling of helplessness and despair tried to come over me. I knew who is was from (not the Lord, of course), and as I prayed the Holy Spirit kept my mind and heart fixed, although I felt a physical feeling of pity come over me.

Unfortunately, after removing one on Amerel’s toe, we saw another one underneath it. Several people saw it along with us. But, it was impossible to remove it, because we’d have to dig around her raw flesh (where we just removed the first one). Having someone numb her toe with an injection was out of the question since that’s just as painful (so we were told). There was no way to remove it without inflicting Amerel with lots of pain. Then, we all had enough of putting Amerel in more pain. Tiffany, Amerel and I cried out unto the Lord. You should have seen Amerel’s earnest praying. I’m sure the pain involved in removing the first worm encouraged her (she mainly had pain because the person removing it slipped with the razor blade and cut her toe a little bit more than what was needed). Amerel kept saying, “Daddy, we prayed to the Lord so He will remove it, right? Since we asked Him, He has to remove it.” Then, she repeated the words I always tell her about believing in prayer and trusting in the Lord when we pray. She even put in the words, “You said…God answers…so He’ll remove it right?” I’ll tell you the truth about what I told my daughter. I told her that we prayed and we’ll believe God to remove it, but we’ll have to check it to make sure it’s gone. I’ve never heard of anyone praying matequenia away. We didn’t have a choice. We couldn’t remove the second one. Tiffany prayed for Amerel with the same heart she did during the time when the Lord miraculously killed the bed bugs after she asked Him to kill them. The next day, Monday, 4/7/2008, I removed the skin over the hole in Amerel’s toe to check for matequenia. Amazingly, the white little sac with the black spot in the center was clearly gone, and her flesh in the whole was a pretty, red color. THE LORD CAN AND DID REMOVE MATEQUENIA!!! But, I’m sure you already knew what the outcome was going to be. Pray for us and for Lichinga. We commonly see the miraculous in own family, but we want to see it as we pray for the people in villages who suffer more frequently and with worse things than these.

IMPORTANT: Tax Deductible Donations Available

Our home church, Church of the Living God (also known as CLG) is now able to receive all financial donations in support of our missionary work. Beginning immediately, you can send all donations directly to our church. All checks MUST be made out to CLG and our name ‘HAYNES’ SHOULD APPEAR in the memo section of the check. By putting ‘HAYNES’ in the memo section of the check, our church will know that donations are being sent for us.

Only donations sent directly to CLG are tax deductible. No tax deductions can be given for donations that are deposited directly into our bank account. If for any reason anyone still desires to deposit money directly into our Bank of America account, you can do so. Since we are releasing my Mom, Mary Haynes, from the task of receiving donations, we ask that you begin sending donations to CLG instead of my Mom as soon as possible.

100% of your donations will be given to us. CLG does not deduct administrative expenses or any other fees. What a blessing for you and for us!

The address of our church is:
Church of the Living God
199 Deming Street
Manchester CT 06042

If you need to contact the church office for any reason concerning the donations you send to us or to answer questions you may have with sending your donations, please call (860) 648-0520.

We thank everyone who has given to our ministry thus far even though you did not receive a tax deduction. We thank you so much! You gave with your whole hearts unto the Lord. What a great testimony you have in the Lord! May the Lord continue to bless you!

We thank my mom, Mary Haynes, for all her hard work, phone calls, and emails to us (and many of you) as she faithfully received and deposited all donations on our behalf since June 2007. Mommy, thank you for your work of love which was well done unto the Lord.

UPDATES AND OUTREACH

UPDATES AND OUTREACH

LICHINGA FAMILY HAS MOVED
Auntie Voilet, her family and all of her lovely children and grandchildren (which we referred to as our Lichinga Children) moved into their new house in the village of Madaba at the end of March. If you remember during a previous blog, this “move” was scheduled to occur during February. We were able to bless the children with jump ropes and a couple of nice soccer balls to play with in their new home. While the children were living next to us, we usually met with them every Monday and Tuesday to worship together, and to teach them to live holy lives and pursue the heart of their Father. About 2 weeks before they moved, the Lord let us know that the work He wanted us to do with them was completed. Hallelujah!!! We were told that during the first couple of days in their new home, the adults in the family led several people to the Lord. We know that all of them will be lights to the many adults and children around their area that need to hear about Jesus.

OUR HOUSE – BUILDING A HOUSE FOR THE PLEASURE OF THE LORD
The land is being cleared, and Tyren and a friend, Moses, are building a shed on the property (the shed is ~ 8 ft by 15 feet). In the beginning the shed will hold the cement bags and other things needed to build the house. Last week’s blog had a photo of the official blueprint. This week, I’m including a photo of the property as it looks now. We hope to transform the grassy hill behind the shed by leveling the top of the hill, and building a gazebo where people can eat, relax and pray. We hired two people at the local rate of $200 Mozambican meticais each per week (~ 8 dollars for 20 hours of work) to clear the land. The builder, a man named Grey who knows the Lord, will start laying the foundation within a few weeks.

ORPHAN GIRL’S HOME
The girl’s house is still being built. Yes, things take longer in this part of Africa. Everyone had hoped it would be completed by Jan 2008. The dorm should be completed by the end of April. 3 people, including a visiting missionary from Canada, who is spending a month here, is helping to complete the remaining work. After the official opening, tentatively scheduled for June, we’ll be accepting orphans.

TIFFANY’S ADMINISTRATIVE TASKS
Tiffany has acquired the role of administrating the tasks that occur in the white house where we live. This old house we live in also houses visiting missionaries and is temporarily used for an administrative office and general meeting place. There is no electricity, indoor plumbing or sinks. Tiffany will have her hands full with homeschooling, learning Portuguese and overseeing things in this house and the storage area in the adjacent building.
EVANGELISM SUPPLIES
Since we are an official Iris Center which does evangelism and outreach, the main Iris Center in Pemba, Mozambique has supplied our center with all the technical tools necessary to hold outdoor evangelism events. They even flew everything out to us on an Iris plane (which is owned by a missionary who is a volunteer/missionary pilot with Iris Ministries). We now have sound equipment (speakers, microphones, etc), lights, tents, a generator (just to use for outreaches and other events),a media player and a projector to show the Jesus Film in various languages. About ½ of the crowd left when we began to preach about Jesus. The chief who invited us to his village stayed until the end. He is allowing us to come back to follow-up with the people who gave their lives to Jesus. Several people gave their lives to the Lord during this first outreach event on April 3rd.
We Love You!!! Tyren
