We baptized White last week in a local fish pond. After being
baptized he said his whole body felt lighter, and he could sleep
through the whole night (something he couldn't do before).

Several weeks ago, on Sunday morning at Assumane church the Lord poured out His fire into our hearts. It was an unmistakable experience for us. It’s like an awakening happening in the hearts of the people in the church. We are a handful in number, but God is raising up the believers to do whatever He has given them to do. In this way, they are carrying His fire to others in the village. Usually people use the term revival for much bigger things. But, we will not despise the day of small beginnings (ref. Zech. 4:10). However God chooses to increase His revival fire in the village is fine with us, even if it’s just person to person; it makes no difference to us. If we believe in what God wants to do, then we’ll see His glory. Below are some ways the Lord is moving in our midst to spread His flames of revival in people’s hearts.
After years of being part of the church, one young Mozambican man said he wanted to translate for me from Portuguese to Yao (the local language) and evangelize house to house. People were surprised to hear that. He is doing a wonderful job translating for Sunday school and at other times, and started evangelizing. He has also started playing drums and we’ve found he is anointed in that area.
Another member (local Mozambican) loves to teach the Word. He finally started. That was a big step for him. He is currently working with Chanito, one of the Mozambican missionaries at our center, to hold meetings at his house. Our hope is to see these meetings grow into other homes in Assumane to encourage the believers, and bring the gospel and “church” experience into homes of interested unbelievers.
We had prayed that the Lord begin to allow His presence to cover the church property in a special way. Mr. W was sick, had pain all over and wasn’t going to come to church this past Sunday. He took medicine last week, but still he wasn’t better. But, he decided to come to church anyway. He testified that the moment his foot stepped inside the church he felt a hot sensation all over his head (that was the power of God). After praying for him, he said the Lord took every bit of pain away.
We started weekly house to house evangelism in Assumane. This will be a time of carrying the Lord’s heart and demonstrations of the kingdom as we simply love people for no other reason than to love them like Jesus loved us. This past week, two groups of us went out and the Lord confirmed His word with a few salvations, words of knowledge, and preaching that clearly opened people’s eyes to the truth of Jesus Christ.
Please pray for the believers in Assumane Church:
- the Lord would show us great mercy so we can faithfully carry the flames of revival
- keep people out of sin, and depending on His grace to serve Him
- help us to steward what He has released into our hearts
- remain faithful to His call for the church (to focus on His love, presence and who we are in Christ)
- to love in word and deed, and minister out of love to our neighbors (Muslims and others) in Assumane
