Love Produces Fearless Ministry

As you know, our hearts are set on the presence of the Lord.  More than just testifying about what the Lord has done in people’s lives, I was excited to see how the Lord can draw us to abide in Him and know Him.  His presence is with us more than we realize (help me Jesus to know you more!).  As you read, please think about the beautiful life of abiding (collaborating with the Lord, being sensitive to His heart, depending on Him, and more).  We believe God is waiting to do great things, if we do our part and work with Him, as He actually lives and moves within us.  May God raise our consciousness to be aware of our Lord who dwells within His people.

Another man, Milcas, that I spend time with on the street
Love on the Streets
A drunk man in the market approached me.  I began telling him about Jesus.  He kept asking me for money. I refused and told him, no, because he had been drinking and also had cigarettes in his hand.  I told him to get rid of his cigarettes.  Then he hid them, and lied to me saying that he didn’t have any.  He was very irritated with me and insisted he didn't have any cigarettes.  He also kept putting his fist in my face.  (A quick aside:  God has given me love for people like this.  He has also given me a ministry on the streets).  So, I began to think that maybe I shouldn't pursue talking to him about the Lord since he was getting a little belligerent.  I left him.  But, then the Holy Spirit spoke to me saying that His love makes one fearless.  After the Holy Spirit had spoken to me, I then knew that I hadn't continued speaking to the man because I was afraid of making him too upset (starting a fight wouldn’t help him hear the gospel).  But, that fear caused me not to hear God and move freely with the Holy Spirit.  I repented and told the Lord I wouldn't be afraid.  I went on my way to buy some bolos (see definition below).  Suddenly, someone came from behind and got my attention.  The Lord had sent the man back!  (Oh, our wonderful Jesus!)  This time I chose to love him and there was no fear.  Long story short:  That same man ended up giving me his cigarettes (he let me search his pockets).  With his consent, I broke them up into small pieces.  Why did I ask for his consent?  I wanted his agreement so that his heart would be more open to repent and be delivered.  It was such a precious moment that I believe the Lord used to help this man's heart be open.  I pray for his complete deliverance.  The women selling bolos on the street were amazed at how the Lord had moved in the situation.

Help us pray that the Lord would bring a
mighty transformation in Atori's life (above)
(Bolos:  they can vary, but some are like small munchkin shaped fried dough balls, often greasy, that are in baskets on the side of the street where they usually collect dirt and whatever else lands on them.  Yes, we like them and eat them.)

Prison Ministry – Special Prayer for Women
I was requested to pray for one woman, but two came.  I turned to the second woman and asked if she also needed prayer.  She was about to tell me what she needed prayer for, but I stopped her.  The Holy Spirit let me know that she needed to believe (and trust).  Instead, by the Spirit of the Lord, I began to tell her what she was about to tell me.  She nodded her head in agreement.

The first woman had a stomache ache.  The Lord revealed that it was, in part, due to her worries (stress).  She nodded in agreement.  But when I touched her to pray for her, I was suddenly aware that she had fear which led her to worry, which gave her constipation, which caused her stomach to hurt.  I told her that the root issue was that she was afraid.  She agreed and explained the fear that was causing the worry.  I prayed for her comfort and encouraged her to trust in the Lord.

Pray that we experience so much more of His presence.  Love,

February: Photo Story

Here's a photo "story" of some things we've been up to during the month of February (including some photos of our new front door).  We didn't include Tiffany's herb garden, our growing grape vines and all of our flowers that are growing during this rainy season.

Celebrating Daddy's birthday party (I'm taking the photo).
We had homemade lasagna!

Valentines Day cookie that my wife made for me.  Of course,
the whole family, especially the kids, enjoyed it.

Walter, from California, is visiting our center.  I learned a lot
about pruning and its effects (John 15) as he pruned (hacked away)
at our precious fruit trees.  But this should make them more fruitful and even stronger.

The aftermath after the above apple tree was hacked down.  Oh, I mean pruned!

One of my friends and center's guards showing a side dish that he found.  These
little caterpillars have red eyes and hard spikes.  In about 2 - 3 weeks, they can grow from about 1 1/2 inches
and as thick as a pencil to at least 4 inches and as fat as your thumb!

Here's a closer look.  At about this size they can be eaten.  I wasn't around when
they were cooked.  But, I'm told that if you taste them, you'll want to eat more.

New wooden door on our house that I designed. The top 3 panels have glass.  (Here, everything is designed by hand
and made by hand).  Yes, that means I brought it to our house, trimmed it to size, drilled the holes
for hinges and the doorknob, and installed it myself.  (Thank you Jesus!). The glass was cut out by hand at the store, then I brought them home and installed them with caulking and nails. We still have to varnish the door.

This is the "gate of righteousness" on our house called the House of God's Pleasure.  The flower design
(symbol of delight) is from the orignal door that was wrecked last year when our house was broken into.
We also had to design this (including all measurements), buy the material, and take it to the welder to make.
(Sometimes I had to sit with the welder for long lengths of time just to make sure that my work was done before everyone else's who might arrive well after me.)

Blessings and love,

Greater Works

Wild flowering bush in our front yard
We are being drawn into that secret place, that low place, where giving God our undivided attention and hearts becomes daily practice and necessity.  It is in this place where His presence consumes us and we rely more on Him.  This year, as we move deeper into relationship, love and being over-thrilled with what God has for us, we believe God for greater works.  We long to see the Lord have His way through our lives in deeds and not just in words.  His heart is so much greater, and we want to demonstrate this to people.  Pray with us and for us as we long to see the greater works of God revealed in love and power to a people in need of the living Savior, Jesus Christ.

Let us give you a quick testimony, and review some things we are involved in this year so far.

Faith in the Market – To Pray or Not to Pray
I asked the Lord how I should pray for a woman in the market.   I really wanted her to get healed.  Why?  Well, here’s the background.  A muslim man followed me as I went to buy bananas.  I was about to leave the stand, but the woman selling bananas was obviously not feeling well.  God did not tell me to pray for her.  But I didn’t feel right just leaving her.  For a moment, fear rose in my heart.  If I pray for this woman and she doesn’t get healed, this muslim man will mock me.  I rejected the fear and chose to pray anyway.  Immediately, the muslim man began to laugh at me.  While I prayed, he left, still laughing.  Nothing happened to the woman then; but I believed.   A few days later, I went back to the market and the woman was completely healed.   Prior to praying for her, she had experienced pain all over and also couldn’t eat well for a few weeks.   So, I went and found that muslim man and brought him to the woman, so that she could testify to him (the Lord told me to do it).  That man was so amazed, he was speechless and just shook his head.  Pray that the Lord gives me grace to share with this man, so that he’ll understand the great love Jesus has for him.

Watchmen Who Watch the Lord
This year I’ll be ministering and pouring love into our day and night guards.  They are all Christian.  Rather than just guard, do general labor and go home, our center is aiming to have these men be part of our family of laid-down lovers; worshippers who host God's presence as they serve as unto the Lord (Colossians 3:17,23).  Join us and pray that our workers would see our center as being a fruitful and joyful part of their spiritual growth in the Lord.

Assumane Village Ministries, prison ministry, and the hospital ministry are continuing well.  They are now led, or are in the process of being led, by other people.   Compassion to the poor/needy, personal discipleships, and missionary oversight and training ministry (to new full-time missionaries at our base) are also continuing this year.

This year we see the Lord increasing our ability to release people into the harvest and help them launch out into the things the Lord has for them.   It’s exciting to see people carrying on the work that we’ve started during the past several years.  We believe it’s the firstfruits of a great harvest that is yet to come through many Mozambicans that are being transformed and are serving God through the great help of your prayers, donations and support. Thank you so much for partnering with us!!!

Please pray that the Lord will allow us to be used to extreme measures of His glory, that a people may be prepared for His presence and be released into their divine destinies.  Please pray that the Lord will grace us to truly dream the dreams He has dreamt for Lichinga, Mozambique and beyond.

His fire is increasing.  We must continue decreasing.  Love,
